- No particular comment from anyone.
- SL meeting:
- 2014 internal audience => Any subject we would like to be audited?
- Laurette Ponce is the new chair of the BE Career Path Panel (EM will also participate, replacing Dominique Missiaen for the ABP group).
- Comment from Oliver Aberle about possible issue with current ferrite => Change in the visual aspect after the heat treatment of the ferrites (Trans-tech material) with some green coloration. Is it really a problem? => Measurements needed afterwards to check the magnetic properties of the ferrite.
- TOTEM RP bench impedance measurements:
- Initial meas. tomorrow in parking position.
- With the motor => Meas. after Xmas.
- With the ferrite => Meas. after ~ February (when the ferrite arrives).
- What about the PS dummy septum measurements? => Some measurements to be redone due to the fact that it had to be dismantled. Reminder: this is the new key equipment for the MTE project, and we should therefore make all the necessary checks.
- LMC talk by GR on ecloud last week => Summary: 2 scenarios for start-up in 2015.
1) Plan A: Start with 50 ns scrubbing and some then some time with 50 ns to recover the 2012 results. Then, 25 ns scrubbing during ~ 1 week and then another ~ 1 week of scrubbing with the doublets-beam to be able to scrub more. And then 25 ns physics.
2) Plan B: In case of issue with the doublets-beam, do scrubbing and physics with the classical 25 ns beam or switch to a 25 ns beam with less ecloud (8b+4e).
- What are the coming important talks to be given before Christmas? => Please, as usual try and send me your talks before the meetings and let's try and discuss them together beforehand.
- ICE lunch on 18/12 => Everybody answered?
- Reminder about JoelC and the meeting in the afternoon of 18/12.
- Discussion with OliverBF on Monday at TU Darmstadt => Possible subjects for students who would spend ~ 50% at TUD and 50% at CERN. Some ecloud subjects could be discussed in the forthcoming ecloud meeting organised by GR on 16/12/12.
4) Tools and instruments used for beam impedance measurements (OB and JosephK): pptx
- Reminder: A 4-port network analyzer (if needed) would cost ~ 40 kCHF, but it is not needed. At the moment, we have a 2-port analyzer from Christian Carli (from LEAR I think).
- ChristineV reminded us that if we need 5 m long cables then it might be difficult to find as it is not standard => Cost is few 1000 CHF.
- Reminder: the probe method should be used (instead of the wire method) for all the cavity-like objects.
- HugoD proposed to have somewhere (on the impedance web site) available all the measurement methods on impedances => Should be the plan indeed. Remember that we will review all of them also during the next impedance workshop in April.
- FC reminded us about a workshop in 1998 in Argonne where all the dos and don'ts were reviewed.
- In summary, we all agreed that we should continue with the requests of the last slide of OB's talk.
