- Switch it OFF when long stops from the PS => Reminder email by Etienne Carlier on 25/05/10: We have noticed at different occasions a significant increase of erratics on our dump switches during periods when the PS is stopped over the last weeks. As you know, when we don't receive a prepulse (typically this is the case when the PS is stopped) and all the conditions are OK in the SPS, our PFNs are charged by the forewarning event and then discharged by our interlock logic into the dump switches in order to be ready for the next injection. This interlock logic has a significant impact on the conditioning of the thyratron as we go from a short kick (~1us) to a long kick (~10us). Do you have found a solution into the SIS in order to switch off the MKP timing (allUserIsPermitted flag) when in this situation? If I remember well, last year, instructions have been given to operators to switch off one console button when in this situation (long PS stop). Comment by Jorg: When the SPS is OK (no interlocks, all requests active) the MKP is charged for every cycle, and it is difficult to get a reliable information on the state of the PS in SIS. So if the PS is 'OFF' for longer periods, please set the FT/CNGS request inhibits or switch the BIS button.
